The Institute for Applied Computer Science (IAI) cooperates with colleagues of other KIT-institutes and external organisations on the fields of Geothermal Technologies and Energetic Biomass Utilisation as parts of  the Helmholtz –Research Programme Energy.

The FZK bioliq process for the production of fuels from straw has gained worldwide reputation. In an interdisciplinary cooperation the IAI undertakes the task of modelling and control design of plant components, the process control engineering and the information management.

While realising geothermal projects lots of information from different sources for varying purposes have to be processed. The institute works on the integration of the numerous data structures for the Geothermal Performance Modelling.

In order to get more information about the geothermal reservoir the down hole measurement technique has to be improved in future. Therefore the Geothermal Probe Tool Kit will be developed.
