Supercomputing

Two working groups of the Institute for Applied Computer Science participate in the Helmholtz Supercomputing Program.

The Research Group Distributed Computing deals both with issues of distributed data management and with resource management in the grid. It forms a link between SimLab users and resources such as the Large Scale Data Facility (LSDF). On the user side, the research group mainly deals with SimLab Energy and the subject energy system modelling and simulation (and cooperates closely with the above working group).

Methodical skills lie in optimization with a focus on Evolutionary Algorithms and in object- and service-oriented software and system development for distributed computing.
