Energy System Analysis Agency (KIC ESA²)
The project KIC ESA² (Energy System Analyses Agency) is embedded in the KIC InnoEnergy initiative to build "Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs)" in the energy area. KIC InnoEnergy is funded by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). The aim of ESA² is combining the expertise of different European partners engaged in energy system analysis in the form of a joint agency or company. The IAI will develop a cooperation platform for internal communication and for distributed energy systems analysis as well as a portal for customers and the general public. In a first step, based on the Liferay Portal Server an IT platform for the project internal communication was built, which includes a shared file storage and social functions such as blogs, project calendar and a wiki. Together with the KIT institutes
ITAS (Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis) and
IIP (Institute for Industrial Production) IAI is working on a concept for a skills and project database. This will be an information pool that can serve as a basis for a planning tool that allows for specific requests for energy system analysis to find the appropriate persons, data and modeling tools in each individual case. The implementation has started. Also with ITAS and IIP it will be analyzed, which data for energy systems analysis will be needed overall and which data have to be exchanged between the various modeling tools. The maintenance of the data should be decentralized, ie the partners are responsible for the data that belong to their sphere of competence.
